Biography
Rob Bertrand joined Inrush as a partner in January, 2025, after spending 25 years directly working for broadcasters in public and commercial media organizations. He supports a broad swath of the Inrush client portfolio and has a particular focus on growing our Public Media practice.
He was the CTO for WAMU in Washington, DC from 2016-2024, overseeing digital product, broadcast engineering, IT, live and post-production audio engineering, traffic, CRM systems, and tower management.
Rob joined WAMU from CBS Radio New York, where he was the head of technology for their seven radio stations, supporting four newsrooms and three music brands, in addition to launching the national CBS Sports Radio Network. While at CBS he also served as a managing member of the Empire State Building Master FM Executive Committee, overseeing the FM antenna system on its iconic spire. Rob got his professional start in radio as the Assistant Chief Engineer for Greater Media’s hometown stations, news-talk WCTC and adult-contemporary WMGQ in New Brunswick, NJ. He caught the radio bug while he was a student at nearby Rutgers University at the station on the campus of Livingston College, where he forged a partnership with a local high school in order to bring the station to the FM dial and create a more powerful combined organization for the high school and college students.
Rob serves on the Radio Technology Committee of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), on the board of the Washington, DC chapter of the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE), and is active with the Association of Public Radio Engineers. He earned his BA at Rutgers University and his MS in Organization Development from American University. He and his husband, Adrian (a PhD public health professional), live in the Washington, DC suburbs in Maryland. When not working, Rob enjoys spending time in nature with their dogs; toiling about the historic property where they live, trying to restore its barn and a little stone cottage; and spending time with friends and family.
